The Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program works to make the healthy choice the easy choice where limited-resource Hoosiers live, eat, work, play and shop. The program is supported by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Nutrition Education Program Advisors provide fun, engaging, and free nutrition education lessons to youth and adults. Our hands-on programs teach new skills that can be used at home every day—from meal planning, grocery shopping and cooking tips to simple solutions for healthy eating and physical activity.

Lindsey Walejewski recently taught the CATCH curriculum to the third-grade class at Beiger Elementary. After the 5 lessons, their teacher, Robert O’Hara, reported a significant change in behavior and that the students were in much better moods after the class!
Everyone goes to the grocery store hoping for a good deal. Few expect to be handled free food, recipes, and vouchers for groceries.
But that's exactly what happened when NEP partnered with the Knox County Health Department and Save A Lot to introduce shoppers to a less popular but power-packed legume!
When seniors in Lapel, Ind., signed up for NEP Advisor Beth Scholer’s Eat Smart Live Strong class at the Anderson Public Library’s Lapel Branch, they had no idea of what they were getting into. But they soon learned to love quesadillas with black bean and corn salsa and cardio drumming!
