Carla was a young pregnant woman who contacted Howard County NEPA Linda Echelbarger because her doctor warned her that her eating habits could lead to gestational diabetes. The family was not eating regularly, and they were not eating healthy foods.
Linda’s approach was to share MyPlate information and label reading skills as two simple steps that could help Carla make healthier choices. Carla wasn’t alone in her journey to have a healthy baby, everyone in the house—including her young son—joined in to learn more about healthy eating and they all enjoyed the healthy recipes Linda shared. Carla did not acquire gestational diabetes and delivered a very healthy baby girl!
